5 Star Testimonials

Our son has been attending Strickland's Taekwondo for the past year and a half. He has grown tremendously in this time. His confidence continues to grow and his motor skills have improved tremendously to help with other sports that he participates in. His first tournament with the school was an outstanding learning opportunity for him as he got a chance to see for the first time what it was like to not be the best at something. This served as a bit of a motivator and has helped to motivate him to do his best at all times in all areas of life. We also had his birthday party at the school where Mr. Drew and his assistant helped to make this one of the better parties my son has had. Strickland's Taekwondo is all around great school and you won't find a better set of instructors who care about your child and their well being as well as work with them to become overall better kids in all areas. Hands down this is the best activity that we've ever put our son in.”

~Rory Bernard - Parent

I have known and studied martial arts under Mr. Strickland and his associates for many years. My oldest son and I have a black belt, and my youngest son has just started out as a white belt, so I write this with the broad perspective of a parent with children both experienced and just getting started. When you look for a school for yourself as an adult, you want a great school. But when you look for a school for your KIDS, you want the absolute best school and best instructors for your children you can find. You don't just want great marital arts training. You want a school that will nurture your child, and encourage your child to set and reach lofty goals; to never give up or accept less than their absolute best. Mr. Strickland's school does that. I demand the best for my kids. If you do as well, visit Mr. Strickland. You'll be impressed. I still am.”

~Ted Reeves - Parent / Student

“I started my training with Mr. Strickland in the spring of 1989, and stayed with him for about 7 years before life started pulling me in other directions. I am proud to say I was one of his first black belts (Mr. Martin will dispute this...but I decided to take 3 months off to go to boot camp while Mr. Martin finished middle school...) . I don't need to say a lot about the quality of Mr.Strickland's character or his instruction. The fact that he is still in the business after 25 years says plenty, and the fact that I'm here speaking his praises after all that time says the rest!  I have many fond memories of the training, the tournaments, and the camps -but my fondest memories are of the community of people that filled that school. Many life long friendships were developed on that concrete and carpeted floor in Mr. Strickland's first TKD school. I'm very thankful for TKD family and all that I learned from Mr. Strickland about life and about the art of kicking and punching.”

“My girls and I love Strickland Taekwondo! The staff is very nice and works well with the kids. They are always having fun events for to kids to participate in and outside of the school. I think this is a wonderful place to put your child in to help he/she learn self confidence and learn how to defend themselves. We love it here and I just love all of the teachers as well as the student teachers. Keep up the great work!”

~Shanelle Chapman - Parent / Student

“It’s easier to just give up.  And it’s really easy for children to give up when they lose the desire to continue with a project, sport or commitment of any kind when it’s just not “fun” anymore.  However, my 11 year old son Caleb has continued enthusiastically on his Taekwondo journey thanks to Strickland’s Taekwondo.  Mr. Strickland and all the instructors have kept my son engaged and excited to attend class with something new learned each and every time, from new forms, new kicks, new sparring combinations, how to handle bullies, etc.  Caleb set his sights on becoming a black belt and Junior Trainee Instructor and after successfully achieving both of those goals he reset them and is now a 2nd degree decided black belt and Trainee Instructor.  He utilizes the skills he learns at Taekwondo in all aspects of his life, including school and social situations. He enjoyed baseball, still enjoys football, but he knows that the passion and dedication he has for Taekwondo will be something he can enjoy throughout his lifetime.  Thank you Mr. Strickland!”

Fantastic experience for our son with Mr. Strickland and his staff over the last two years.  They teach self discipline as well as self defense.”  :)

t's not just for Kids! Absolutely the best TKD school around for your kiddos but also a great time for us (slightly) older kids that want a challenge and a great workout! The proof is right there when you watch these kids as they progress through their ranks!”

~Peter Heise - Parent/Student

I have known Mr. Strickland for 22 years and I can honestly say he is great instructor, mentor and friend. He is an excellent martial artist and he has a unique ability to bring out the best in people. Over the years Mr. Strickland has taught hundreds if not thousands of students and many of those have gone on to open their own schools and be very successful business owners. I would encourage anyone who is interested in martial arts to visit his school and take a class. I promise you won’t be disappointed!”

~Rob Love - Student/Instructor

“Strickland's TKD is absolutely the very best in North Texas. Mr. Strickland, an 8th degree black belt, through his own personal experience guides each of his students to achieve their personal strengths and goals. Can't say enough about his commitment to his student. Go by and see for yourself.”

~Barbara Fleming - Grandparent

“Mr. Strickland, his school, his students and what they all bring to the table is what martial arts is about. Even after 10 years I still use techniques he showed at one of his clinics many years ago. His influence stands apart as one of the most remembered in my mind. You can always tell a student from Mr. Strickland's just by their talent and upmost characteristics. It is an honor to be a part of such a great influence.”

~Shaman Gibson - Instructor at McLean’s Martial Arts - Saraland, AL.

I've been going to Strickland's Taekwondo since i was 10. About three years ago I and my family moved into Texas. We started Strickland's about half a year later. They were welcoming and friendly to me and my family. It helped us to start living healthily and happily. It gave us a thought that we CAN do it and that if we try hard enough we can achieve the impossible. This school isn't just Taekwondo it teaches us things like weeping jujitstu and allot of other cool things. Those things help us to escape, feel safe, and are fun to practice. The people there are nice, and everyone in my family has made friends that will last forever. I don't think something to bad will ever happen to me, but I now feel prepared. My friends find it cool that i know martial arts, and they were thrilled when my instructors came down to my school and taught them how to deal with a bully. My family now lives a happy, healthy, family filled life. Part of that is thanks to Strickland's”

Unlimited Classes

We offer unlimited class attendance to all students. That means that you are not limited to certain days or number of classes per week. You can come to any/all classes that are available for your rank. Our parents and students love this flexibility!

Our Taekwondo Karate program for the youngest teaches children focus and discipline. It is directed towards developing positive relationship to being active while also being fun and engaging. Children will learn answering "Yes, ma'am" and "Yes, sir" when addressed, will work on listening skills, paying attention, patience and teamwork. And the most important of them all - they will have real FUN learning basic martial arts skills!
